WALKÜREN - THE THREE MARIES Chapter Thirty-Six

 WALKÜREN - THE THREE MARIES

Chapter Thirty-Six

- So you wanted to meet us...

- Yes... I have a problem and I think you three can help me...

- I don't understand...

- Calm down, I'll explain... do you remember the events there in Quiririm, about five, six years ago?

- In a normal situation, I wouldn't remember... in fact, I don't remember much...

- I remember that you helped my mother... and I will never forget that...

- I just did my duty...

- The only thing I remember, that really marked my life, was the change that the girls made for me...

-Well, Rose... her husband was a piece of trash...

- Are you sure you don't remember anything?

- Well, I know that you, my father and the police chief were always meeting at the police station. And, if I'm not mistaken, we participated in one of these meetings...

- I think I remember too...

- If I'm not mistaken, there was one more person... but I can't remember her...

- I know that the three of us went out one night, after one of those meetings... and the next thing I knew, I was in my bed, sleeping...

- Do you know the same thing happened to me?

- With me, too... we left the city and, suddenly...

- Alright, girls.... you must remember the teacher...

- What teacher?

- The doctor's girlfriend...

- Mr. Juvêncio, I'm sorry... but I don't remember any teacher... especially dating a doctor...

Juvêncio was a little bewildered. Does this mean that the girls didn't remember having participated in solving the case of the city's fantastic animals? The most incredible thing is that they didn't even remember the Goddess who walked among them... could it be that...

- So you don't remember the battle...

- What battle?

After this response, Juvêncio thought it more prudent to leave the conversation aside... he needed the girls' help, and he needed them to remember their previous actions.... but it wasn't by insisting at this moment that he would achieve his intention...

- Do you already know the city?

- No... it's the first time we've been here....

- What's her name, Juvêncio?

- Espírito Santo do Pinhal...

- There are a lot of pine trees around here, aren't there?

- That's why the name, right, you fool?

- Grace...

- Girls... can I invite you to accompany me to an indigenous village?

- Clear...

- Will be cool....

- Well then, tomorrow we're going to a village, which is nearby... you'll like it...

- If we don't like it, we'll tell you...

And everyone retired... everyone, no, just the girls. Juvêncio remained in the room. After all, the delegate, his assistant and the doctor were still sitting at the table... They talked for a while longer, Juvêncio explaining who the new arrivals were and why they were important to him. Finally the visitors left and Juvêncio also retired...

- Strange conversation from the police chief, isn't it?

- Yeah... but you know what, Bel?

- What?

- That teacher he talked about...

- What's the matter?

- Remember when I was hired to teach at the school?

- Yes, I remember...

- Well, my class didn't have a teacher... not that anyone remembers...

- And?

- So... the students had someone teaching them... in fact, they were even more advanced than the students in other classes...

- AND...?

-And they also didn't remember the previous teacher... the Director didn't know what to do, when she discovered that she had an active class at the school with no responsible teacher. But the tests, the lessons... everything was up to date....

- AND...?

- And the only signature that appeared on all the students' documents was that of the Director. It was as if the class had been without a teacher all that time, but the lessons were being taught normally...

- It means you replaced a ghost teacher...

- More or less that. Did you know that the Principal asked me to sign all the children's documents... since the beginning of the school year?

- And you signed it?

- Of course... she paid me for it...

- Our...

- And now the police chief comes with this story...

- Look, I remember that the night we met with the group at the police station there was something strange happening...

- Me, too... I just can't remember what it is...

- Shall we do something, girls?

- What?

- Let's sleep... then we'll think about it...

- You're right... it's not worth losing sleep over some things...

- I agree with you... good night...

Juvêncio was in his room, smoking a cigarette. As he watched the spirals of smoke rising into the air, he kept thinking about the conversation he had with the three girls. Yes, they were being sincere when they said they didn't remember anything. Thinking about it, when the girls intervened in Quiririm's case, they seemed as if they were asleep. At no point did they mention that they recognized anyone from the group of vigilantes. Izabel was very attached to her father, and yet that day she didn't even give him a look. It made sense. After all, the Goddess had said that no one except the vigilante group would remember the events of that day. And the girls were not part of the group. What had the Goddess called them again? "Guardians"... no, it was another word... it sounded German... it sounded like a woman's name... what was it again? Vi... Ve... Verô... no, no... he finally remembered... she called them "Valkyries"... where had he heard that name before? It reminded him of something, but he didn't know what it was... well, a good night's sleep could refresh his memory... surely the next day he would be able to remember everything he needed to know... lately it was like that... Therefore, the best thing was to rest a little...

It didn't take long and Juvêncio was riding in the world of dreams. Corisco galloped on a loose rein through the countryside, accompanied by Saci, Juquinha's faithful horse. The two had been riding for some time, after... were they after something? Apparently no. They seemed to be riding just for pleasure. Wait... they were betting on a race. Juvêncio, riding Corisco, had a slight advantage over his partner... but Juquinha was hot on his heels. Yes, the two horses were really very fast. Few horses were able to keep up with them, or even escape a chase carried out by those two... Juvêncio smiled... he patted his animal's back, and it slowed down, allowing Saci to overtake him and Juquinha to celebrate the victory. victory over his companion... yes, it was a really pleasant afternoon...

Juvêncio smiled in his bed, immersed in his dreams. Good times had already passed... Juquinha, still a boy, carefully followed the advice of his friend and protector. Juvêncio had been raising the boy since his family had been victimized by a band of criminals. And, despite running around the countryside providing justice to anyone in need, Juvêncio never neglected his pupil's education. If everything went well in his life, one day the boy would be a doctor...
