THE CRYSTAL CUP Chapter Three
THE CRYSTAL CUP
Chapter Three
There are days when everything goes wrong, right? That was Helena's day. She woke up late (the alarm clock didn't go off... if it did, she didn't hear it, which is the same thing...), when she went to take a shower, the shower burned and that cold morning water spread over her body (which it was good in a way, as it woke her up instantly), she realized that she didn't have any clean blouses from her work uniform and so she would have to wear the same one from the day before (the pile of dirty clothes had grown alarmingly over the week) and, to top it off, when she went to drink her coffee, running, as she was already too late, the cup slipped from her hands and spilled the hot liquid onto her lap, soiling her blouse and burning her skin. There she goes, running to take off her dirty and sticky blouse (she likes very sweet coffee), wash the area affected by the coffee and apply an ointment so that the place does not get infected. Finally, after all these setbacks (she took a blouse from her wardrobe that wasn't part of her uniform, but it would have to do, since she didn't have another one...) she finally made it to the street, only stopping when she reached the pick-up point. bus. "How lucky", she thought... "the bus is already coming!" When she goes to open her purse, to get her wallet... where's the purse? She forgot it on the kitchen table when she was getting ready to leave. "But how did you manage to forget your purse, woman?" she thought, furious with herself. Well, she was already late, so there was no point in moping around. Resigned, she returned home. She was already giving up on working that day, after all there were so many setbacks...
When she got home, she sat down on the sofa and thought for some time. Everything that had happened so far told her she was better off staying home. The day did not bode well. In fact, her week hadn't been good so far. On Sunday, when she went to visit her mother, she ended up fighting with Estela, her younger sister. The reason? She didn't even remember anymore, it had been something she could consider unimportant in any situation, but at that moment it took on the proportions of a personal tragedy. What made her more angry is that her mother defended her sister, not giving her the slightest reason for what had happened. And that left a bitter taste of injustice, since she was right and her sister was wrong. But Estela was her favorite daughter, and her mother would never be against her...
I must clarify that Helena was a very calm person, restrained to the extreme. Introverted, she always kept to herself. She didn't refuse help to anyone. Very sweet, she always tried to see other people's side. Empathetic to the extreme. And sometimes they ended up abusing her willingly. For being a person as calm as she was, when she exploded, people around her even found it strange. Because she really exploded, it looked like she was going to have a heart attack, she turned red and stuttered, and screamed loudly everything that was choking on being hers. But, in normal situations, after the explosion of anger, she returned to being the sweet and sweet girl that everyone knew and that some loved. I say some because we can't please everyone around us, can we? There are always those who, for some reason, don't like us...
And Helena stayed there, sitting in the living room, thinking about what she would do that day...
