WALKÜREN - THE THREE MARIES Chapter Thirty

 WALKÜREN - THE THREE MARIES

Chapter Thirty

- But where did this woman go, my beloved Lord?

It was Juca, pacing back and forth across the room. He was worried. It was already close to midnight and he had no idea where Izabel could be. He couldn't understand what was happening. Why didn't his wife come home? Where would she have gone? These were questions that would only be answered when she arrived. Meanwhile, Juca would continue to worry about what had happened...

When he arrived at the store that morning and the girls told him that Izabel had left town on horseback, he didn't quite understand what was happening. But he thought that perhaps his wife had decided to go for a walk to relax a little, since in the last week she had been very stressed with the delivery of orders and the neglect of the fabric factory.

When examining Izabel's room, he noticed that she had changed her clothes... of course it wouldn't be very comfortable to ride in formal clothes... but she changed them into the clothes from her adventurous time... he looked at the safe, and noticed that the weapons that had been stored for so long had disappeared, along with the belt. Of course, the girls didn't see her leave the store armed, but the weapons certainly came out in the bag she carried. This made him even more worried.

Throughout the afternoon, Juca stayed from one side to the other, expecting that at any moment Izabel would return to the store. Every customer that came in made him sigh, hoping it would be her. And soon after, an expression of discouragement appeared on his face, when he saw that it was not who he was expecting...

When it was time to end the day, Juca was a little undecided... would it be better to wait for Izabel a little longer, or should he go home straight away? After pondering for a while, he realized that the best option would really be to wait for her at home. She would hardly go to the city at that time...

When he arrived home he was welcomed by Mario and Sônia, his two friends. They cling to his leg and he lifts them onto his lap. He entered the house, where Cecília was finishing preparing dinner. The girl was surprised to see her brother-in-law alone and made to ask something, but the expression in the boy's eyes made her understand the situation. She was silent.

Cecília bathed the children, fed them and then finally put them to sleep. It was around eight o'clock at night. She had to go to her mother's house, but she was a little uncomfortable leaving the boy alone... she asked if he didn't want company until her sister arrived....

- Are you sure everything is okay, Juca?

- Well, well, it's not, is it? I have no idea where your sister is...

- If you want, I'll talk to my mother and stay here until she arrives...

- No, Cecí, let it go... she'll arrive soon...

- You really don't know what happened?

- Nothing happened, Cecí... I'm telling you!

- You didn't argue... didn't you fight?

- No way... we were at peace... it's been a long time since we argued...

- Serious?

- Yes... I'm tired of losing to her...

- Well... if you're sure you won't need me... then I'll go home and come back tomorrow...

- Thank you, Cecí... everything will be fine....

But the hours passed and nothing from Izabel appeared. Juca was already despairing. The worst thing is that she couldn't go after her wife for two reasons... she didn't know where she could be, plus it didn't make sense to leave the children alone while she looked for their mother...

The first rays of sunlight found a sleepless Juca, still walking around the house, bewildered. Now he really was worried... I mean, even more worried. After all, his wife showed no sign of life. She went to the stove, put some wood on the burner and lit it. She put on a pan of water to make coffee. He would have to get the milk from the hose, but he couldn't do that, as he was left alone to take care of the children. Until Cecília arrived, he would have to remain there...

It didn't take long... the water didn't even boil... and Cecília was entering the house. She looked at her brother-in-law and instantly understood that he had spent the night awake and that her sister had not shown up. She took over the kitchen. The boy took advantage and went towards the hose to get milk for the children. Soon they would wake up. It's a good thing they weren't very close to their mother... because that way the inconvenience would be less.

- Are you... going to headquarters?

- I don't know... I think it's better to go to the city, open Belinha's store...

- You think...

- I don't think anything... but I have to open the store and then go to the police station. And then I'm going to have to get some sleep... I spent the night awake...

- Did something happen to Belinha?

- What happened, happened... but what, my God?

- Look... you didn't really fight, did you?

- No, Ceci... I already told you... it's been a while since we've had any kind of problem...

- But that's not normal... for her to disappear like that...

- I know. That's why I'm going to talk to the police chief... I don't know... maybe he knows something...

- The deputy?

-Yeah... after all, she came out with the clothes she wore when she was hunting criminals...

- Is playing...

- I wish... do you know the weapons she used at the time?

- What's the matter?

- She took...

And Juca mounted his horse and headed towards the city. Soon he arrived at the store, where the employees were already waiting. They were surprised to see their boss's husband, but they didn't say anything. He delegated control of the store to the oldest employee and headed towards the police station. He had to report his wife missing. And then he would have to notify his mother-in-law... he was worried about the second part of the mission... how would his wife's mother take the news that he had no idea where his daughter was?

Meanwhile, somewhere in the mountains, the three Amazons set up camp. Only after the night passed did Izabel realize what her family was like, as she didn't know where she went. She shrugged. When she got home she would talk frankly with her husband. She would leave. She felt like she needed to go somewhere she didn't know where it was. Rosa knew well what she had to do...she was going to resign from her job at the school. As for Graça, she had already left her store in the hands of her faithful squire. Yes, they all felt like they had to go somewhere. They didn't know where she was, nor what her destiny would be. But they felt they would get there...
